Challenge

The impetus of this poster was to represent in printed form the text of a prayer to St. Sebastian asking for protection during a plague. The original prayer was embroidered into a 24-foot-long banner that is meant to be wrapped around a person as an act of prayer. The challenge then was to devise a poster that captures the essence of transforming thoughts into action.

Solution

The poster's background is packed with the text of the prayer to St. Sebastian, repeated in variable font weights. This visualization mirrors the act of spiritual observance. The prayer was broken into short phrases with the underscore color matching the original, embroidered banner. These breaks help distill the process of learning a text.
