The iconic artist finished a new body of work titled "Night Thinking." These pastel drawings evoked her creative energy while working late into the night. The challenge was how to represent the artist's vision and deep engagement with abstraction while emphasizing the extraordinary quality of the new works.
Because of the artist's long career and deep engagement with abstraction, the solution began with a modernist typeface updated for the contemporary world.
Highlighting the artist's color palette, textures from the pastels, and the layering of the forms required ample white space. The layout hints at how the works would be displayed in a museum setting—isolated on stark, white wall—helping the viewers experience the reproductions as works of art.
